Who We Are

Current Leadership

With more than 35 combined years of non-profit management, the future of the Gene Slay’s Girls & Boys Club of St. Louis is in good hands.

Prescott W. Benson, MAPC, MA – Executive Director

Prescott joined GSGBC as the Director of Programs in 2011, when he led GSGBC through a strategic organizational and programmatic change to address the needs of the community that yielded a new vision for GSGBC. This was accomplished through a change management strategy, the design and implementation of a variety of evidence-based, outcome driven programs, leveraging community resources, and building internal and external capacity to serve as the foundation for a comprehensive youth development agency.

From 2006 – 2010, Prescott was a Director with Boys Town of New York overseeing a variety of programs, including: short-term shelter, the Willoughby Street School, and intensive residential treatment. Prior to this, he served in a variety of environments that included: parish ministry in the United Methodist Church, YMCA, academic administration, adjunct lecturing in developmental psychology, and missions/humanitarian work in: Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Lee University, a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Theological Seminary, and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University in New York City.

As Executive Director, Prescott will provide leadership that furthers the vision and mission of GSGBC. He will be responsible for sustaining and cultivating alliances and partnerships; resource development; providing financial oversight and administration of day-to-day operations; and partnering with GSGBC’s Board through the implementation of GSGBC’s strategic plan.

Robert (Bob) Puricelli is responsible for furthering the mission of the Club through comprehensive resource development, community engagement, and management of the facility.
