Organization Description:

The mission of Gene Slay’s Girls & Boys Club (GSGBC) is to empower girls and boys in the St. Louis metropolitan area, especially those who need us most, to realize their physical, intellectual, and emotional potential.

In 2018, GSGBC adopted Sanctuary, a trauma-informed organizational change model, which encourages the core values of non-violence, emotional intelligence, social learning, democracy, open communication, social responsibility, and growth and change.  All staff are trained in Sanctuary and all youth participate in trauma-informed curriculum focused on safety, learning about emotions, managing loss, and creating a hopeful future.

GSGBC offers after school and summer programming for youth ages 6-16, serving more than 900 youth annually. GSGBC supports youth development and holistic health with programs that include academic support and assistance, athletics, aquatics and recreation, character and citizenship, healthy lifestyle, the arts, college and career readiness. The after school program runs August through May, 2:30pm-7:30pm, and an 9-week summer camp is offered June through August, 7:00 am-5:30 pm.

Primary Function: The Front Desk Clerk is responsible for assuring the safety of Club members by maintaining accurate record of attendance as well as greeting members and the public in a positive manner. They will work closely with Program Staff to ensure the Club adheres to the program schedule as set forth by the Program Design & Compliance Officer.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the front door; greet guests and members entering the Club
  • Check youth in and out of the Club using TraxSolutions (Internal system)
  • Ensure accurate real time attendance for emergency procedures
  • Ensure safe dismissal of members to authorized pick-up person
  • Answer all telephone calls in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Keep youth and families abreast of upcoming events and important dates/days off
  • Ensure compliance of public health and emergency protocols
  • Review all membership applications for accuracy before accepting
  • Assist with data entry of membership forms into TraxSolutions (Internal system)
  • Accept payments for Club fees and submit to Finance Manager
  • Administer warnings and fines to parents/guardians for late pick-up
  • Maintain sign-in & out sheet for all programs
  • Provide administrative assistance to Youth Services Manager and Program Design & Compliance Officer as requested
  • Keep all necessary forms supplied
  • Assist in administering First Aid to members as needed
  • Maintain awareness of timetables of children arriving by bus/van to Club
  • Knowledge of various school calendars
  • Maintain organized workspace
  • Maintain volunteer sign-in/out sheets
  • Update and maintain Front Desk Manual

Requirements:

  • Microsoft Office Suite experience and experience utilizing online databases
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High school diploma required, associates or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Ability to self-start, take initiative, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Works collaboratively with other staff and management
  • The ability to problem solve and process through critical thinking
  • Must pass the health and employment requirements set by Missouri Department Elementary and Secondary Education as a condition of employment

Covid-19 Vaccination Policy:

 

GSGBC requires written proof of vaccination from the vaccine administrator or an image of your CDC-issued vaccination card, including the vaccination place, date(s) and name. Any employee who cannot comply with this policy due to a requested accommodation or otherwise will be required to submit to mandatory weekly COVID-19 testing until the employee becomes fully vaccinated.
