Gene Slay’s Girls & Boys Club (GSGBC) has a 90+-year history of providing exceptional youth development programs. GSGBC’s mission is to empower girls and boys in the St. Louis metropolitan area, especially those who need us most, to realize their physical, intellectual, and emotional potential.

Primary Function:

  • Provide leadership for GSGBC, including members, families and all staff in the implementation of the Sanctuary Model of trauma-informed care
  • Attain and maintain certification from The Sanctuary Institute for GSGBC
  • Implement trauma-informed assessment for GSGBC community
  • Utilize the Sanctuary Model of trauma-informed care to develop age and situation appropriate assessments and referrals for members and their families
  • Identify and evaluate the needs of youth displaying behaviors associated with trauma
  • Provide training and support to GSGBC youth program staff
  • Manage MSW and case management staff

Responsibilities & Priorities

  • Build healthy, respectful relationships with all our members and their families
  • Provide assessment, create service plan in collaboration with member and parent
  • Provide short/long-term case management services to individual members and their families, coordinating referrals to community agencies
  • Facilitate group learning for our members using Sanctuary and social emotional learning
  • Maintain a current referral network to community resources
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of members receiving social service care including case histories and referrals
  • Maintain a statistical and demographic breakdown of current caseload
  • Utilize Sanctuary Model curriculum
  • Incorporate trauma-informed approaches into social and behavioral education curricula
  • Set-up and manage infrastructure to handle internal and external referrals
  • Provide direct supervision and management of MSW and case management staff
  • Supervise, direct and evaluate the work of social work interns
  • Assume responsibility for continued professional development for department

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, trauma, domestic violence and associated therapeutic processes
  • Sensitivity, appreciation and commitment to socioeconomic, cultural and racial diversity and LGBTQIA+
  • Deep understanding, commitment and belief in providing best practices in social work for members and their families
  • Written and verbal communication skills with ability to establish rapport and trust
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to proactively collaborate with other supervisors and program directors to ensure the best possible training for staff and service delivery for clients
  • Punctuality and timeliness, with highly efficient use of time and resources
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook

Qualifications:

  • Must have and maintain current licensure (LCSW) by Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • Must have 3 – 5 years of experience in the youth-serving sector, preferably within a not-for-profit organization
  • Must have 3 – 5 years of experience working with underrepresented populations and diverse communities
  • Must have 3 – 5 years of clinical experience
  • Must have at least 2 years of previous supervisory experience
  • Clear understanding of the work and mission of Gene Slay’s Girls & Boys Club and the ability to carry out the vision as defined by the Executive Director and the Club Board
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must pass the health and employment requirements set by Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services as a condition of employment
