Association

Our Young Professionals Association is an organization for ages 20-40 that support GSGBC through fun events, exclusive volunteer opportunities, and fundraising for the Club.

Joining this group gets you exclusive access to bi-monthly meetings (usually somewhere fun!), GSGBC events and fundraisers, and a network of other young professionals.

This is a great opportunity to meet other young people in St. Louis, build your board/committee member experience, and support a great cause!

What is GSGBC?

GSGBC was found in 1929 as the first Boys Club in Missouri. For nearly a hundred years, we have been providing high-quality afterschool and summer programs for ages 6-16 in south St. Louis.

GSGBC gives youth opportunities for successful futures through academic enrichment, life-changing programs, and a safe place to go.

We adopted "Gene Slay's" into our name in 2006 after our alum and former board president. In 2013 we began serving girls officially making us the "Gene Slay's Girls & Boys Club."

Our mission is to empower girls and boys in the St. Louis area, especially those who need us most to realize their full physical, intellectual, and emotional potential.

Our primary focus is Dutchtown, Gravois Park, Mt. Pleasant, Bevo, and Marine Villa. These are neighborhoods that challenged by high crime rates, poverty, and a lack of vital resources. This area in south St. Louis has the highest density of kids.

We step in as a place for kids to go, specifically between 2:30pm and 7pm. We give kids a chance to participate in academic support and enrichment; athletics, recreation, and aquatics; character building; college and career readiness; healthy living choices; and visual and performing arts.

In 2024, we served 740 kids across three campuses. Through our programs, 51, 276 meals were received. 100% of members in attendance participated in a daily hour of homework or academic enrichment activities Monday-Thursday.

*TBD YPA Event | This is a future TBD event. The ideas is that the Young Professionals Association will put on their own event and have more creative control on what that might look like (i.e. 5k, Sand Volleyball Tournament, Putt Putt Tournament, etc.)

*Bi-Monthly Meetings | The current layout of our organization is bi-monthly meetings, equalling five meetings plus a 12 Bars meet-up (rather than a December meeting). We host these are local bars and restaurants to give club updates, network, and have a good time!
