Character Building

Think about the people that made an impact on you as a child. Who showed you what it meant to be a person of character?

The success of our programs can be largely attributed to our dynamic staff. They are experienced and passionate in their work and treat the social-emotional wellness of our members with a high priority. In order to instill a sense of character in the next generation, they need role models that mentor them with care.

Kids and families continue to choose GSGBC as an afterschool and summer care provider. Creating a safe space where kids can learn and grow under the guidance of adults who believe in them is important to their emotional growth.

Social Emotion Wellness Impact

In 2025, 209 members’ Social Emotional Learning Skills were assessed during the Afterschool Program and Summer Camp

  • 100% of members reported learning a new coping skill, with 73% of Afterschool members saying they learned three or more.

  • 97% (202 members) said they have supportive adults at the club who make them feel safe. For members assessed during the Afterschool Program, this increased to 100%

  • 88% (185 members) said they can identify their emotions or learned something new about feelings this year. Additionally, 78 out of 88 reported knowing how to manage their emotions.

  • 84% (175 members) said they gained skills in getting along with others and resolving conflicts.

Join us this Give GSGBC Week in celebrating the people that have made an impact in the lives of kids! Was it a teacher, coach, or afterschool professional? Maybe your parents or grandparents?  Was it a leader in your community?

Make a donation as a special tribute to them and we will add them to our Tribute Tree at our Soulard Campus. The Tribute Tree is a paper tree design in our common area of the Soulard Club. Each special tribute will be written on a leaf and added to the tree.
