WHAT WE DO

GSGBC provides exciting afterschool and summer programs that give kids ages 6-16 the opportunity to grow and explore their interests. We aim to improve the lives of under-resourced and underserved youth by equipping them with the skills they need to make good choices and achieve long-term stability and success. We offer high quality and holistic programs that identify and meet the needs of under-resourced youth through academics, leadership building, health, athletics, and the arts. All of GSGBC’s Programs are designed around instilling our members with the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, & Citizenship.

Facts

What happens between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. can have a profound impact on a child’s chances at success as a student. After school programs reduce juvenile crime by keeping kids safe and occupied between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Teens who do not participate in afterschool programs are nearly three times more likely to skip classes than teens who do participate. On any given day 33% of children in the U.S. aged 5-13 return to an empty home after school. That’s more than 12 million kids who have to fend for themselves when the school day ends, many times without meals, adult guidance, homework support, and in vulnerable environments.
